Collaborating with a small foundation like SIIF was an unconventional move for a bank-backed fund, but with alignment, trust, and skills, the partners designed the fund’s strategies, including the Theory of Change (ToC), with SIIF leading its development as part of its impact expertise. Theory of Change The Fund’s ToC can be seen below in Figure D. In its own words, the fund aims to create a society with “diverse ways of work and life” by supporting new future-of-work solutions through investment in the realm of work and child/ elderly/ health care services. Figure D: Hataraku Fund Theory of Change (ToC)
The Hataraku Fund invested in eleven impact start-up companies that focus on childcare, nursing care, health care, and the promotion of new work styles—with a goal of supporting workers across various life stages. On the next page, Figure E summarizes all Hataraku investments.
