Appendix B: Three Example SIBs

Colorectal Cancer screening in Hiroshima Prefecture SIB (2018) This SIB addressed a key health issue in terms of Hiroshima Prefecture’s high rates of bowel cancer. The focus was on better screening and precision examination that were lower than the national average. Raising these figures has been an issue for some time. The SIB was led by the National Health Insurers of six cities in Hiroshima Prefecture—Takehara City, Onomichi City, Fukuyama City, Fuchu City, Miyoshi City, and Kashihara City. Intervention Focused on increasing the take-up of screening visits for colorectal cancer. The assumption was that such screening would catch cancer early and extend healthy lifespans. Artificial intelligence was used to analyze the patient’s past examination and information. A recommendation was then made for a custom-made consultation to increase the number of early detections of colorectal cancer.
